Proof of Impact!

Not too long ago, we shared ways of how you can help our organization, specifically in regards to the 5k event we hosted at the end of August. In this newsletter, you will see how your generosity is giving us the opportunity to provide life-changing services to victim survivors at SafeHouse.

SafeHouse is a 501©3 non-profit United Way organization providing critical domestic and sexual violence response, prevention and intervention programs for the communities of Shelby, Coosa, Clay, and Chilton Counties in Central Alabama. SafeHouse offers free and confidential services that are designed for the individual needs of each survivor.

SafeHouse, a non-profit organization, operates on grants, community support and individual donations. Our staff has responded to thousands of crisis calls and has provided safe haven for over 5,000 victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. SafeHouse staff and volunteers strive to provide comprehensive services to victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence in a holistic manner. Our mission is to empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence through support and advocacy and to educate the community to prevent future abuse. However, all survivors are unique and each have different needs to accomplish this.

In our previous fiscal year 2021-2022, our staff responded to over 1,900 crisis calls and provided services to more than 490+ victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence in our community based programs. In addition, SafeShelby Sexual Assault Services has provided over 220 sexual assault exams and 35 intimate partner exams since December of 2016.

We have dedicated ourselves to constantly improving and expanding in order to better serve all victims and survivors of Shelby, Clay, Coosa, and Chilton Counties through events such as our annual SafeHouse Strong 5K. We are thankful for all of those who participated in or donated to our 5K event in August. Because of you, we were able to raise over $14,000 this year that will allow us to continue providing life-changing services through our emergency shelter, community services, prevention education, and SANE program.

Thank you for your continued support of our organization and the work we do in the community fighting to eliminate abuse all together.
